Life Skills Syllabus- this course is only offered to general education students first semester each year.
INTRODUCTION
Welcome to Life Skills! This course has been recently redesigned for all students, (all students meaning not just for students with special needs), so that all students may become more independent when they leave high school! This class was designed from feedback from former students who have graduated and told me, " I was never taught how to balance a checkbook in high school","I wish someone would have taught me how to do laundry before I left my house," or we never worked on counting money back correctly". So, we are going to explore many different areas of life such as: balancing a checkbook, planning a healthy menu, financial literacy, social skills (role playing) just to name a few! There will be many projects to complete during the course of the year! Should be some great hands on work without doing worksheets everyday!

MATERIALS
Come prepared! Every class period you will need your planner, a writing utensil, paper in a 3 ring binder, a free reading book, and a folder. You may leave your materials in the blue wire bin by my classroom door if you would like. That way you will have what you need everyday. Bring all homework assignments or projects with you the day they are due or they will be late. You will still have to do the work but you just won't get the credit that you deserve!
CLASS ASSIGNMENTS
We will be discussing a wide variety of topics in this life skills class. There will be a variety of hands on projects, discussions, role playing, and group/individual activities will be completed throughout the year. If you are a senior some of your work may overlap and I will give you credit in life skills class. Examples may include and not be limited to: attending Rotary Club, and some of your work in your portfolio from Careers II class.
